The
qualification for gaining admission to study medical laboratory science is
determine by the appropriate government agency of that country. In all most
case, the study year a medical laboratory student will spend in school before graduating
is for year course which include both theory and practical training that the
prospective student will undergo before graduating. It usually takes place in
the high learning, i.e.
university and Health College in the state, at the end
of the study, diploma or degree is award to the student which successfully completes
his/her course of study. Also first class graduate in the biomedical science
field are admitted into the profession after the student is subject to undergo
a bench training for sometimes. A higher diploma or degree may be awarded after
further training in one of the discipline. But it is a common practice these
days for medical laboratory scientist to carried out research and obtained a
higher learning degree.
In
Nigeria a student seeking admission to study medical laboratory, must present
SSCE certificate which he/she must have credit on the following subject;
English, mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics and it not more than two
seating in some university in the country. And the student must seat for JAMB
of which the minimum cut off mark should not be less that 220, to 250 in the
country.
